Beginners tend to shy away from Judo because they feel it's very dangerous and they have a fear of falling. However, Judo helps you conquer that fear and brings you to a better understanding of true Judo - the Judo that Professor Jigoro Kano (Founder of Judo) taught to Women in his Dojo back in the late 1800's and early 1900's. Every woman should try Judo; it is a very effective tool, especially if you have to fight on the ground. Our co-ed Judo club accommodates all levels.  In Judo you will learn the following proper techniques:

  • UKEMI "Breakfalls" - falling backwards, sideways and forwards
  • Zempokaiten Ukemi "Roll outs" - learn to do shoulder rolls, forward and backward
  • Nage-waza "Throwing Techniques" - fundamental and basic throwing your opponent and terminology
  • Osaekomi-waza "Pinning Techniques"- basic groundwork and fundamental pinning your opponent
  • Shimewaza "Choking Techniques"- learn the basic choke holds to render your opponent to "tap"
  • Katame-waza "Joint Locking Techniques" - basic arm bars and joint locks from the ground or standing.
  • Uchikomi - one on one repetitive technique practice of requirements
  • Competition Rules and Requirements
  • Competitive and Non - Competitive club Judo Play
  • Intro to Kata Practice
  • Intro to Randori "Free Play" standing and ground.

All of the listed above requirements are done in a "slow and controlled" manner and practiced many times. This is NOT a tough mans class. It's a gentle way of learning Judo and using Maximum-Efficiency with Minimum Effort! to obtain MUTUAL BENEFIT!!!!
